Seahawks, Bills looking to deal?

The Buffalo Bills have said they will now hang on to running back Marshawn Lynch, but will they?

The Seattle Seahawks have an opening at running back after releasing veteran LenDale White.

White was the team’s only sizeable running back, the only player who could carry the ball 20 times a game on a consistent basis.

Julius Jones was expected to handle that roll, but he has been a major disappointment the past few years.

The Seahawks could trade for Lynch and send back someone like troubled linebacker Leroy Hill to help out Buffalo’s defense.

Seahawks to finish with four of six at home

By Bud L. Ellis

If the Seattle Seahawks can rebound from last season’s 5-11 showing and find themselves in the hunt in the NFC West come Thanksgiving, they’ll have plenty of chances at Qwest Field to finish strong.

The National Football League has released game times and dates for the 2010 schedule. Seattle will finish the slate with home games in four of its final six games at home.

The season opens with home games in two of the Seahawks’ first three games: the season opener at home against San Francisco and a week 3 matchup against San Diego, sandwiched around the road debut in week 2 at Denver.

Seattle plays at St. Louis in week 4, then gets its bye week Oct. 10. Four of the next six are away from home, starting with a trip to Chicago. After a home game with Arizona, Seattle travels to Oakland, plays host to the New York Giants, then makes back-to-back road trips to Arizona and to Super Bowl champion New Orleans.

Starting with a Nov. 28 home game with Kansas City, the Seahawks close with four of their final six at home. After the Chiefs, the Seahawks play host to Carolina, travel to San Francisco, play host to Atlanta, visit Tampa Bay and play host to St. Louis to close the season.

Seahawks facing difficult home schedule

By Bud L. Ellis

There will be some pretty good football teams coming to the Pacific Northwest this season as Pete Carroll returns to the NFL.

The Seattle Seahawks, looking to improve on their 5-11 record in 2009, will welcome in six teams that won eight games or more in 2010, according to the list of home games and road games released by the National Football League. Dates and times will be finalized at a later date.

Seattle plays just two playoff teams at home, NFC West rival and defending division champion Arizona, and AFC West rival San Diego. The rest of the home schedule isn’t easy, though, as the Seahawks face Atlanta, San Francisco, Carolina and the New York Giants, all four who finished at 8-8 or 9-7 last season. The rest of the home schedule is rounded out by St. Louis and Kansas City.

Away from home, Seattle visits Super Bowl champion New Orleans and Arizona. The road schedule is a little softer, though, with visits to San Francisco, Seattle, Tampa Bay, Chicago, Denver and Oakland.

Based on opponents’ win percentage in 2009, the Seahawks’ schedule ranks tied for 29th with San Diego out of 32 teams.
